Stir & Scribble is a weekly newsletter that documents life as a food editor, baker at heart and Mom from Meghan Splawn. Each week I share a weekly series called Staple, Snack, Staple where I meal prep three things that making feeding my family easier or sweeter. You can also expect peeks into my planners, poems, weird parts of astrology that connect me to my kids. Occasionally I’ll share my latest work as a freelance food writer.
Supporting subscribers also get access to a monthly essay on motherhood and exclusive recipes.

About Meghan Splawn
Hi, I’m Meghan a long time food editor. My career in food media started by accident (a funny story for another time) but I ended up spending 10 years working for Alton Brown on everything from the original Good Eats television show to four New York Times Best Selling Cookbooks.
Later I worked as a Food Editor for TheKitchn.com where I primarily wrote instructional cooking content, meal plans, and recipes. My Southern Biscuit remains my most googled recipe!
These days I work as a freelance food writer — both here on Substack and on popular sites like Simply Recipes, Serious Eats, Realtor.com and TheKitchn. You may know me from Instagram or the popular weekly podcast I cohosted, Didn’t I Just Feed You. However you found my work, thank you for being here. 💛
