Maggie, I can truly not understate how large these costco pretzels were. And they were pretty great! Pretzel dinner doesn’t require this large of a pretzel but it was really fun!
The first and last time I went to a hot yoga class, I left early while my sister was still in there. And I just had to wait for her in the lobby for like 30 minutes. I hate being hot. HATE IT. Never again.
Ummmm a few things about this. You’re amazing and I just want to acknowledge like just how much you do??? Holy crap?? Cooking, parenting (and all that that includes), delivering flowers, writing, doing these amazing drawings. It’s endless and impressive. And even if you feel like you’ve been uninspired, it looks pretty amazing to me. A few questions: I think you’ve inspired me to start doodling? Idk if I’ve told you this but I do leave really stupid doodles for my husband sometimes around the house. (Very unrealistic stick figures but he thinks they’re funny.) Maybe I’ll like make a journal of food things and thought things too? What’s your fave journal and pens? Are those watercolors too??
More food-doodlers, yes please! I just did an interview with my friend Ammie Williams (she has a great youtube podcast called Paper People) and we talk through my process but I don't think it airs for a while. I know people have really strong opinions about paper/journal choices but it might be helpful to buy something inexpensive to draw in first and invest in pens you like, then worry about what kind of paper/notebook once you've got a routine you like.
I draw everything out in pencil first (cheap mechanical) and the use tombow dual brushes to color in the shapes and add layer. Then I use sharpie creative markers for adding highlights or building deeper color (white is my most used color). Finally I outline everything in black or brown stabilo fine liners. I'll DM you the post from January with all my favorite tools linked out too.
This is not even the first time I've taken this particular class! I swear it was unusually hot! Fortunately I don't get embarrassed or anything but I do think I scared the receptionist, LOL.
I love your journal doodles! What is your favorite brand of journal? What kinds of pens/markers do you use? It doesn't look like they bleed through the paper and the paper is thick enough to hold it but not too thick.
Doing the exercise while the kids do their exercise has been a game changer for me. 2-3 other moms do it with me, we call ourselves walking moms. It’s not every practice but it’s enough to be making a difference, physically and mentally .
I so love your food doodles!! And I’m thrilled to have your steak sandwich in The New Family Table ❤️❤️❤️
Made your blondies twice so far - they are killer!
Wait now I need giant pretzels!!! And had forgotten about pretzel dinner so grateful for the reminder.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Amazing.
The first (and last) time I did a hot yoga class I went home and sat in bed for five hours after because I thought I was going to pass out.
Lol plz see my comment.

It's so good of you to share this stuff, Meghan. Also, I wish our Costco sold those giant pretzels!!!
As someone with illegible handwriting I was so impressed and intrigued when you talked about hand LETTERING experiments. I want to see a full font :)
